Helping the Half Assini Surgical Theatre Save Lives
It all started when…
…we built our first clinics in the Aowin district of Ghana and realized we needed to help furnish the backup hospital, so the patients from our village clinics would have somewhere to turn for higher-level care. Now that we are working in the Jomoro district, we find that their operating room or “theatre” is in desperate need of basic equipment. And, with no anesthesia machine, they must use spinal blocks for all surgeries, or not do them at all. (See the video story done by Diaspora Network T.V. in Ghana) We have had amazing donations of equipment and supplies, (see partial list), but were not able to get a factory recertified anesthesia machine donated. We have found a GE Aestiva/5 that has had one owner and an excellent maintenance record. It has just arrived at the manufacturer in Maryland for recertification. We can have it professionally crated and shipped to us in time for air shipment on Oct 26th. This is a quick fundraiser to fill an urgent need.
